California has a wide variety of interesting cities and towns. From quaint harbor communities to a desert oasis, this is a listing of just a few of the towns you may have interest in.
Long Beach is located between Interstates 710 and 605 along the coast. More of a metropolis than a town, Long Beach has plenty to offer its visitors. Our top picks would be Aquarium of the Pacific, a tallship cruise out of Shoreline Village, a gondola cruise through the canals of Naples and the Queen Mary tour. But there's so much more so check out our page dedicated specifically to Long Beach.
Santa Monica is located where Interstate 10 meets the ocean. The Santa Monica region has a multitude of attractions and is situated approximately 30-minutes from Hollywood. Attractions include Pacific Park (a boardwalk park with rollercoasters and thrill rides), an arcade, aquarium, souvenir shops and restaurants. The nearby Santa Monica Place offers shopping from some of the major retailers like Macy's and Robinson's May. Continuing 3 blocks north from Santa Monica Place along 3rd Street is the 3rd Street Promenade. This promenade offers an outdoor shopping and entertainment venue along 3 blocks of pedestrian-only streets. Head north on 'The Strand' (paved beach bike path) to Will Rogers State Beach where the 'Baywatch' television show is filmed. A short trip south will land you at Venice Beach where you will find bohemian entertainment and shopping along 'The Strand'. Take a romantic sunset walk through the canals of Venice.
Hollywood is located off Highway 101 near Santa Monica Boulevard. What would be a trip to California without seeing Hollywood. Honestly, the locals steer clear of this area due to crowds but we know you're going to go there anyway, so we'll tell you what to see. But there's so much to see in the Hollywood region that we've dedicated a page specifically to Hollywood.
