Shasta Cascade River Rafting

Shasta Cascade Whitewater Rafting Overview

Shasta Cascade

California's Shasta Cascade has many whitewater rafting locations and plenty of professional guide services to make your experience memorable. From the class V rapids of the secluded Scott or Salmon Rivers, to the class II & III excitement of the Trinity River, California has a whitewater experience for any skill level. A diversity of scenery includes redwood forests, deep granite-walled canyons, Indian caves & petroglyphs, and it all depends on which river you choose.

Klamath River is divided in two with the upper portion being for the more experienced and main portion for just about anyone. The Upper K starts with over 5-miles of class 3 rapids which evolves into an equal distance of exhilarating class 4+. The last portion is wide and mellow. Indian caves and petroglyphs can be found along the route. Fishing and swimming opportunities abound. Camping available.
The Klamath River is a good choice for families or first-timers. Long expanses of Class 3 rapids can be broken into several days of rafting. Waterfalls, swimming holes, fishing and camping abound. The Yurok and Karuk Indian Tribes are settled along the river. Camping and stopping is prohibited during their yearly ceremonies.

Trinity River offers plenty of class 2 and 3 rapids that's great for families or first-timers. Many choices for camping. Machinery from the Gold Rush era dots the shoreline in the northern portion. Rafting is best during September when water is released for Hoopa Indian ceremonies.
Below the fun class 2 and 3 rapids of the Trinity River is a section to take seriously called Burnt Ranch Gorge. A plethora of falls, holes and waves save this section for the experienced only. Boulders and narrow canyons require paddle boat passage only. Waterfalls have up to 10-foot drops. This is one of the few rivers that is still a class 5 in the summer months.
