Griffith Park is located on the west side of Interstate 5 and south of Highway 134 (Ventura Freeway). Griffith Park consists of over 4200 acres of natural chapparal, landscaped parks, athletic fields and major attractions. Portions of the park have hiking & horseback riding trails with views of Hollywood, downtown L.A., Santa Monica and beyond to the Pacific. Major attractions found within the park include the Griffith Observatory, Los Angeles Zoo, Greek Theatre, Autry Museum and Travel Town. Play a round at one of 4 golf courses; join a horseback riding tour; rent a bike for several miles of paved roads; cool off in the public pool; or volley a round of tennis in one of 3 tennis complexes. For the young ones there are pony rides, a merry-go-round, miniature train rides and camping.

Vasquez Rocks is located off Highway 14 north of Los Angeles in Agua Dulce. This 745 acre park features geological rock formations smoothed by wind and sand. This is a great place for hiking and horseback riding. Hike along trails or climb among the huge boulder formations throughout the park. Picnic facilities are also available. Many movies, commercials and music videos were filmed here.
TIP: This is a desert environment. The best time to visit is in the Spring or Fall. See our Tips page for precautions on hiking in desert environments.

Catalina Island is located 20 miles off the coast of California and is accessible in just over an hour by boat from San Pedro, Long Beach and Dana Point. Long Beach offers a helicopter flight to Catalina that takes approximately 15 minutes. Catalina has tons to offer including diving & snorkeling, swimming, golfing, biking, kayaking, hiking, camping, fishing, glass-bottom boat tours, bison expeditions and much more.
