North Coast National Parks Overview
On March 1 1872, President Ulysses Grant signed into existence the world's first national park. Since then, hundreds more have been established. These parks are awe inspiring natural wonders and offer glipses into our history. California has several of these National Parks and Monuments. Redwood is the only National Park found along the North Coast of California.
TIP:The National Park Service offers FEE FREE DAYS to some National Parks on select weekends through the Summer. Use this link to view available dates.

North Coast National Parks BACK TO TOP
Redwood is located along highway 101 north of Eureka. Redwood National and State Parks are home to some of the world's tallest and oldest trees. They can live to be 2000 years old and grow to over 300 feet tall. Bright red tree trunks against the lush, fern canopy make strikingly beautiful contrasts. Much of the park ends at the ocean with steep, rocky cliffs meeting redwood forests. Some areas level out to form lagoons and estuaries. Activities include camping, hiking, backpacking, fishing, biking, horseback riding, river rafting, and more.
