California has a diverse collection of museums. From a maritime museum with decommissioned war ships to the Exploratorium and museums of art, San Francisco has something to spark interest in just about anyone.
Maritime Museum is located at the north end of the Embarcadero and Fisherman's Wharf starting at Pier 45. From the museum is a beautiful view of the bay. Not only a museum but several piers offering a historic tallship, ferry boat and WWII submarine. Tours are available and facilities can be rented for group events.
Exploratorium is located off Highway 101 just west of Fisherman's Wharf. This museum is a collection of exhibits and hands-on demonstrations of modern science, biology and physics. This is a great place for both children and adults to expand there minds. Roman-style architecture, fountains and pond of the Exploratorium are a San Francisco landmark.
Museum of Modern Art is located off Highway 80 near the Bay Bridge. This museum houses a fantastic collection of mind contorting art from abstract paintings and modern sculptures to the just weird and bizarre. The building itself is a modern art must see.
